Is an incontinence shield right for you?
Men's incontinence shields can help protect you against light leakage, whilst allowing you to live an active and worry-free lifestyle.
As such, you can forget about the risk of any embarrassing situations and just get on with your life, whether busy at work or enjoying your leisure time.
In particular, we find that our incontinence shields are especially suited to those with overflow incontinence.
What is overflow incontinence?
Overflow incontinence happens when your bladder does not empty properly, resulting in leaks. You may not notice that you need to urinate and when you do go to the toilet you might find that you keep dribbling after passing water.
The issue can have a range of causes including weakness of the bladder muscles and blockage of the urethra.
Whilst incontinence shields can help you with small leaks and dribbles, it is also important to speak to a doctor to find out what is causing your particular problem.
You could also speak with a continence nurse or specialist physiotherapist, as these healthcare professionals specialise in advising on bladder problems.
The good news is that, in addition to using an incontinence shield or other men’s incontinence products, there are things that can be done in many cases to alleviate the situation. For example, some people find that exercising can help to strengthen bladder muscles. On the other hand, if your doctor finds a blockage, its removal could also remove the problem.
You could also try bladder training, where you make sure you go to the toilet every 2-3 hours to urinate so your bladder doesn’t overfill.
